The Red Sea Rift is a divergent boundary between the Arabian and African Plates. It is a rift that is causing sea floor spreading and the expansion of the Red Sea. The Red Sea Rift itself is mostly useless because of the fact it is submerged underwater. However the Red Sea is a sea surrounded by people, who use it often. It has several volcanoes and a few of them are active. It is studied because of the fact the Red Sea might help break up Africa, and is forming mini seas. The Red Sea is full of resources and minerals, including quartz, clay, coral, and a diversity of fish. The Red Sea also separates those who live in the Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia from those whole live in Saudi Arabia. As the Red is spreading it is creating several mini sea and breaking up Africa.
The Red Sea Rift is a divergent boundary between the African and Arabian Plate. Divergence is when two plates spread apart. Underwater this causes sea floor spreading and rifts. Divergence is caused when a plate's convection cells (these form when heat conducts through the inner core, then convects through the outer core, then it conducts through the mesosphere, then it can starts convection in the the asthenosphere) are going opposite directions (<------ | ------>). The Red Sea Rift is a deformation of Earth's crust. It deforms when when crust is pushed up and creates a rift which begins making new crust. The Red Sea Rift creates new crust that is pushing the continental crust around it away and expanding the Red Sea. Another thing created is earthquakes, as with all other boundaries. As the crust is being pulled apart the is creates stress, swell as when the crust hits the continents. This stress will build up till it is released in an earthquake.
The Zagros Mountains and the Red Sea Rift are closely related. They are on opposite sides of the plate and are opposite plate boundaries. Since the Red Sea Rift creates crust and pushed the continents away, it causes the Zagros Mountain. However, if it wasn't for the Zagros Mountains the Red Sea's crust would all be subducted under and the Red Sea would not spread nearly as fast. This means that both plates' boundaries are needed for each others formation.
The Red Sea Rift is part of a much larger line of rifts called the Great African Rift Valley. This rift valley is creating several mini lakes through Africa and will eventually split up the continent . Some lakes are already starting to form along the ridge.
